Dr. Al Jury

Dr. Al Jury is the Chief HR Officer at the University of Queensland (UQ), a role he has held since early 2018. UQ has more than 50,000 students, 7000 staff and is ranked one of the top 50 universities in the world. Leading a function of more than 150 people at UQ, he is currently driving a significant, multi-year HR transformation program.
Prior to taking up the role at UQ, Al held senior executive level HR positions in one of the world’s largest energy companies (Equinor, previously known as Statoil). Equinor has been ranked as one of the world’s 50 largest companies in the Fortune Global 500 list and currently employs more than 25,000 people with annual revenues exceeding USD$60bn. In the almost decade working for Equinor, he was based in London, Stavanger and Houston.
Al has also been the co-founder of two digital agencies – Alfresco Design and Alpha Digital. Alfresco Design (now part of Next Digital) grew to have over 1000 clients including Rio Tinto, Xstrata, Shell, Vale Inco, Visa, Bose and various government agencies and was sold to the STW Group. Al then co-founded Alpha Digital which has grown to be one of Brisbane’s leading digital agencies.
Al holds a PhD in Organisational Psychology from the University of Queensland and executive education from Harvard Business School. He is registered as a Psychologist in Australia and a full Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
